Getting there

To the hill without the drive

The ski bus from Chinook, the airport buses and the free shuttles in Banff.

Schedules change every winter. Check each one before you go.

Lake Louise Ski Bus

  • Last season it picked up at Chinook LRT station (1A Street and 61 Avenue SW) at 6.45 am, downtown at 4 Avenue and 3 Street SW at 7.05, across from WinSport at 7.25 and Canmore at 8.25.
  • It left Lake Louise at 3.45 pm and got back to Chinook around 6.50 pm.
  • Book online by 8 pm the night before, and no more than two days ahead. Pay cash on the bus or by e-transfer.
  • Last season a return seat from Calgary was $50, or $180 for an adult with a lift ticket.
  • You still need a Parks Canada pass for Banff. Youth 17 and under are free.
  • The same company runs a Sunshine Village bus from the same Calgary stops.
  • The winter 2026-27 schedule is not posted yet. Check lakelouiseskibus.com before you go.

Driving and parking

  • Check 511 Alberta before you leave and DriveBC for the BC hills.
  • Winter tires make the Highway 1 drive a lot calmer. BC requires them on most highways from October 1 to March 31.
  • Banff, Lake Louise and Norquay need a Parks Canada pass on the dash. Stopping in Kananaskis needs the Kananaskis Conservation Pass.
